Its big feature is a screen that lights up in the dark, but is still readable in direct sunlight. It costs $119 with no wireless connection or $180 with it.

Reviews of the Kindle Paperwhite are overwhelmingly positive.

The Verge's Josh Topolsky sums everyone up: "Between the new display, the improved software and performance, great battery life, and Amazon's massive book selection, there's not much here to complain about."

"Reading on this display was completely comfortable in any environment I put it in."

He says it is "probably the best I've used."
