Like danggit, dried mango, otap, rosquillos and lechon, Mooon Caf? is synonymous with Cebu. If you have not been to this Mexican-inspired restaurant yet, then you have not fully explored the Queen City of the South.
Known for its delectable choices of food and drinks, plus attractive ambiance, Mooon Caf? was established in Guadalupe by a group of artists in 2007. When the business was on the rocks, the owners decided to sell it to the Pages Holdings Inc. The caf? was purchased for Php700,000 and renovations cost around Php3 million. Just like what they did to Thirsty?, the company did not only save the brand from bankruptcy, it was able to maneuver it into something better. Mooon Caf? is currently one of the most flourishing restaurants in Cebu and is gradually conquering the rest of the Philippines.
Among their wide range of tasty dishes, Mooon Caf??s Mexican offerings are the most popular.? If you want some light Mexican appetizer, order their all-time favorite Chimichanga, which is composed of crispy flour tortilla filled with tender beef, cheese, sour cream and salsa rojo, or their Nacho Spinners, which is a bowl of crispy corn tortilla with five dips: salsa fresca, salsa verde, scorched chili salsa, tropical friut salsa, and sour cream. Have a Mexican feast and choose from Beef Taco, Fish Taco, Qeusadilla Uno, Quesadilla Veracruz, Beef Burrito, Burrito Pescado, Campesinos, Nacho de Salsa, Campesinos Jalape?o, Chicken Flautas, and Tostaditas.
Aside from Mexican dishes, they also serve other equally enticing dishes. Their Appeteasers menu includes the tasty Gambas ala Luna, Gambas ala Ajillo, Pork Sisig, Calamares Fritos, Beef Salpicao, Garlicky Mushroom, Tocino Strips, Tapa Strips, and Crispy Squid. If you want some fresh greens, order their Lettuce Salad, Ensalada Mexicano,Fajita Salad, or Grilled Chicken Salad.
You will enjoy their unique pasta servings that include Spaghetti ala Gambas, Pasta Mexicano, Spaghetti Bolognese, and Pasta Carbonara. They boast of their Spaghetti ala Mooon, a unique pasta dish consisting of sauteed chicken, shrimps, shitake mushroom, roasted peanut, and oriental sauce. You will also be enticed with their cheesy pizza choices including Jalapeno Diablo, Quatro Quezo, Pizza Classico, Bacon and Mushroom, Pizza Pilipino, Ham and Pineapple, Karnes, Pizza Margharitta, and Gardenia.
For meat lovers, take delight on their pork, beef and chicken offerings that come with rice and sidings. To satisfy your hankering for some meaty goodness have some Grilled Pork Belly, Grilled Pork Chops, Mexican Baby Back Ribs, Six-Stick Pork Barbeque, Steak Ala Pobre, Lechon Kawali, or Mooon Steak. The restaurant prides on serving only certified U.S. beef so if order some Beef Stroganoff, Tenderloin Steak, Beef Tips, Fillet Mignon, Rib-eye Steak, or Peppered Beef, you will definitely get your money?s worth. If your appetite for meat is only light, have some Chicken Mozzarella Melt or Sizzling Chicken. They also have sausage meals like Frankfurter, Cheese Hungarian and Schublig.
Mooon also has an extensive menu of hot and cold drinks. They serve various kinds of fresh fruit shakes and juices that can be found on the Thirsty? menu. Their must-taste drink is the Suncooler, which is a yummy cold concoction of various tropical fruits. They also serve beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages. The caf? serves special cakes and other desserts. Make sure you ask for their ever popular Mooon cake, which is moist chocolate cake with fresh mangoes and cream.
The brand promises to raise the bar of their customer?s eating experience. Proving that they are not just a fad restaurant that quickly becomes a thing of the past, Mooon Caf? has won the Most Promising Retailer of the Year at the 2010 Outstanding Filipino Retailers ? Cebu Search Awards. Its yummy Suncooler also received the Ayala Malls Customers? Top Picks award for the coffee/cocktails category.
In 2009, Mooon Caf? became available for franchise, grabbing the interest of a lot of entrepreneurs. From their first restaurant in Gudalupe, they now have branches in IT Park, Ayala Terraces, Parkmall, Robinson?s Cybergate, Gaisano Grand Mall Mactan, Insular Square Mall, and Shopwise. Outside Cebu, you can find them at Robinson?s Place and Silliman Avenue, Dumaguete;? SM City Southpoint, Iloilo City; Robinsons Mall, Cagayan de Oro;? Rizal Avenue, Ozamis City;? Abreeza Mall, Davao City; Gaisano Capital Riverside, Leyte; and Robinsons Mall, Bacolod. More branches are expected to open in the coming years.
Despite the tough competition in the food industry and the global economic recession, the owners attribute Mooon Caf??s growth to the ?combination of good food, inexpensive pricing, great ambience, and fast and quick service.?
